In November 2020, the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua was hit by two Category 5 hurricanes in a period of 2 weeks.
Haulover, a Miskito community, is a town that was devastated and now that the water has gained ground, the population is more vulnerable to the increasingly strong storms.
Xolotl is a god of Aztec mythology, he was commonly depicted as a dog-headed man and was a soul-guide for the dead.
Lake Xolotlán is the 2nd largest in Central America, but also one of the most polluted in all of Latin America. Almost 100 years ago the city of Managua and industries in the area started dumping wastewater in it, also the largest garbage dump in the country lies on its shores. Despite all, life persists in many ways.
