In November 2020, the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua was hit by two Category 5 hurricanes in a period of 2 weeks.
Haulover, a Miskito community, is a town that was devastated and now that the water has gained ground, the population is more vulnerable to the increasingly strong storms.
In April 2018 a series of protests broke out throughout Nicaragua, evidencing the discontent against the Ortega - Murillo regime. In response the government unleashed a brutal repression.
